Lily Pad Town
In this project I really wanted to jump into Unreal Engine and create a scene with more organic geometry. Since Unreal offers a quick way to prototype environments with a lot of foliage and plants, I thought this project would be the perfect opportunity to venture into the world of Unreal.
Inspiration for this scene mostly came about because I wanted to try doing something with a heavy amount of vegetation that was also a full environment. Since it can be quite cumbersome to render heavily vegetated environments though means other than a game engine, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to use Unreal Engine.
The actual contents of the scene were inspired by my old interest in vintage toys. I used to be really interested in old toys when I was younger. My brother and I used to collect old toys, cameras etc. I had a collection of bottle caps when I was a kid that comprised mostly of caps I found when I went camping with my dad and my brother. I wanted to portray a summer nights feeling in this piece. While there are a few assets in this project that are part of the scan libraries available from Epic Games, I created almost all of the assets myself and used the foliage brush to scatter grass and clovers around the scene
